Adult Beginning and Continuing Wheel Classes
Our adult wheel classes are suitable for ages 17 and older and include scheduled class time with instruction and open studio hours for practice. Students must register for a specific class (for example “Saturday Morning Wheel”) and are not allowed to attend any other classes during the week except occasionally for a make-up class with permission from the instructor. What to bring: A small bucket for water, a towel, and tools if you already have some. Basic tool kits are available for purchase on the first day of class. What to wear: Old clothing and sturdy shoes if you prefer to work on a kick-wheel; you may want to bring an apron to protect your clothing. |
Tuition and fees: Includes classes, open studio privileges, and use of studio glazes but does not include clay fee, tools, or firing fee.

Several other commercial clays are also available for purchase; fees vary depending on type of clay.

Class Description: This class is especially designed for those who have never used the wheel or who are working on basic skills. The course includes wedging, centering clay, throwing basic bowl and cylinder forms, finishing & glazing. Beginning potters receive substantial individual attention.

Class Description: This class introduces beginners to basic wheel techniques (throwing bowl and cylinder forms, finishing and glazing) and expand wheel methods and surface decoration for the continuing student. The course will include wedging, centering clay, throwing a variety of bowl and cylinder forms such as cups and vases, finishing and glazing. This class provides substantial individual attention to beginners and then enables students to evolve at their own level and improve their skills in clay.
