Adult Handbuilding Classes
Adult handbuilding classes are suitable for ages 17 and older and include scheduled class time with instruction and open studio hours for practice. Students may register for either the Tuesday-Thursday, Wednesday evening or the Saturday morning class. Tuition and fees: The Basic tuition covers classes, open studio privileges, and use of studio tools, equipment, and glazes. It does not include clay fees or firing fees. Studio clay is available for purchase. Several other commercial clays are also available for purchase; fees vary depending on type of clay. Firing* Fee: $2 per pound, or $3 per pound for larger (> 10 inch) pieces. * Student work is fired to to cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln. |
What to wear: Old clothing; you may want to bring an apron to protect clothing.
Make-up Classes: Students may “make-up” missed classes only during the current session for which they are registered.
The instructor will assist any student who needs to re-schedule a missed class.
Note: Due to high demand, you may take only one handbuilding class per week, Tues/Thurs, Wed or Sat.

Class Time: Wednesdays, 7:00 pm –10:00 pm
Class Description: This class focuses on key handbuilding techniques including pinch, coil, and slab construction, plus surface decoration, glazing, and firing. Instructor provides individual guidance for all levels of experience with special attention to newcomers. Experienced potters may pursue independent projects.
