Jeff Kirk
Jeff has been the director and full-time resident potter at Glen Echo Pottery since 1975.
He has exhibited in many local and national shows, won numerous awards, and his work can be found
in many private collections
throughout this country and Europe. His most recent public commission was a ceramic mural for the
Amazonian Building at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoo in Washington, DC.
Jeff’s teaching philosophy allows all students the freedom to discover their own creativity.
Many of Glen Echo’s students have become professional potters, a tribute to the unique
character of the Pottery.
Phil Berneburg
Studio potter for over 15 years, industrial ceramics engineer and consultant,
and pottery instructor. Operated the Apron Full of Gold Pottery,
a studio and school in Winthrop. Maine from 1996 to 1999. Teaches a
variety of pottery classes as well as special workshops on the
technical aspects of ceramics.
Bruce Bowers
BFA Painting, Ohio U, MFA, Sculpture, Kent State U. Has taught at
Kent State U, Canton Art Institute, U of Akron. Asst Professor of
Art, Hiram College. Chairman of Art Dept., Martet School, Washington DC.
Taught at Montgomery College. Has exhibited in over 60
local, regional, and national juried exhibitions.
Kathleen Darby
Worked and studied at Glen Echo Pottery since 1984. Studio Assistant
since 1990. Operates the Pottery Demonstration Studio at the newly
opened Glen Echo Gallery yurt.
Linda Johnson
Studio Assistant at Glen Echo Pottery since 1982; has
taught ceramics for children and young adults since 1987.
Her work is found in several private collections.
Kanika Sircar
Was an anthropologist until the 1980s; she then went
on to make her living as a painter and printmaker.
These careers, and a youth spent in India influence
her ceramics. She has been working in clay for the past decade.
